Initially developed by Aldus Corporation in 1985, Adobe PageMaker was an early GUI-based desktop publishing program. It included simple tools for laying out text and images on a page with rulers to make designs proportionate. Adobe PageMaker also supported PDF (Portable Document Format) files. After its latest release in 2004, development was discontinued.
Adobe PageMaker was the predecessor to Adobe InDesign, a more advanced desktop publishing program that is included with the Adobe Creative Cloud.
