Controversial books on fire.

The term alt-tech refers to technology platforms and services outside the mainstream or traditional technology ecosystem (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.). This genre has gained popularity in recent years due to users' concerns about censorship, privacy, and data collection practices associated with major tech companies. The online video-sharing website Rumble is an example of a platform that many consider to fall under the alt-tech umbrella.

Some people seek out alt-tech platforms as they can offer more personal information control, support new ideas and free speech, or have ideologies that better align with their beliefs. While not always the case, alt-tech sites and services have often been associated with more "extreme" or politically far-right viewpoints. Being less prone to moderation, they can also open the door for misinformation and may give a voice to those with hateful viewpoints.
