Amber may refer to any of the following:

LED status lights

1. Alternatively called orange, amber is a color used to indicate a temporary or constant error. Unfortunately, because so many devices have orange lights, what it means can vary. Below are some common causes of an orange light.

Orange light on the computer

When a computer goes to sleep mode, the power LED may change to a blinking or solid orange light. If you're using a laptop, a solid or flashing orange light often indicates the battery is charging.

Orange light on the monitor

A solid or blinking orange light indicates the monitor or other display is not receiving a signal. For example, if your monitor has power but is not plugged into the computer, the indicator LED is orange.

Note

A monitor's orange light may appear next to or on the monitor power button.

Orange light on a printer

On a printer, an orange light usually indicates a problem related to printing activity. A blinking orange light can mean the printer is trying to print something, but is low on ink, out of paper, or there's a paper jam. A solid orange light may indicate a malfunction in the printer or, if network-capable, the printer has a connectivity issue.

Orange light on a network device

On a LAN (Local Area Network), network card, modem, router, or other network device LED (Light-Emitting Diode), amber may represent a network collision or other activity. For example, as data is being transferred to and from the device, the orange light blinks. If your network is not working, an orange light may indicate a problem with the network.

2. With HTML (hypertext markup language), amber is represented as the HTML color code #FFBF00, which is hexadecimal for 255 red, 191 green, and 0 blue. For example, this text is a orange color. The image shows an example of the orange color code with the RGB (Red, Green, and Blue), HSL (Hue, Saturation, and Lightness), that it's not a web safe color, and its complementary color.

Note

Amber and orange are often labeled as the same color, but we list these colors as two separate colors.
