Originally known as Quantum Computer Services, Quantum Link, or Q-Link, AOL (America Online) was co-founded by Steve Case in 1985. It is one of the most iconic ISPs (Internet Service Providers) in the history of the web.
Today, AOL has shifted its focus towards content development and had acquired such online properties as TechCruch, The Huffington Post, Games.com, and many more.

Terms of the agreement include the transfer of SpryNet's subscribers, assets, and intellectual property to MindSpring. The expected sale price is between $35 million and $45 million.
June 8, 1998 - AOL purchased Mirabilis, the makers of ICQ for $287 million.
