Arduino shield

Updated: 06/22/2024 by Computer Hope
Arduino shield PCB (Printed Circuit Board) connected on top of an Arduino device.

An Arduino shield is a Printed Circuit Board which can be plugged into an Arduino device to extend its capabilities. It is called a "shield" because it plugs on top of the Arduino, usually covering it completely. Some of these boards are single use, but most can be stacked one on top of the other and used in parallel.
