Battle Chess, released in 1988 for the PC and Commodore 64 and in 1993 for Apple/Macintosh, is a chess classic and continues to be a chess classic in computer gaming. In the original and popular Battle Chess game, you have the capability of playing a human or computer opponent. However, what makes this game entertaining and unique from any other chess game is the movement and battle of the pieces.
The Battle Chess series has won several awards, such as the PC Journal's Editor Choice Award, Multimedia Worlds Reader's Choice Award, and Kids & Computers Best 1992 Computer Game.
Battle Chess 4000 is based on the original Battle Chess series, but based in a futuristic setting with new 3D animated characters that contain over 125,000 different moves.
Battle Chess 2: Chinese Chess, released in 1989, brings Western Chess to the home PC and provides new and unique elements, such as cannons, chariots, dragons, and other new elements.
Overall, Battle Chess is an excellent game to get individuals interested in the game of Chess.
