Short for Berkeley Software Design, Inc., BSDi is the manufacturer of networking components and the producer of Internet and networking software designed for Berkeley versions of Unix.

BSDi history

BSDi was founded in 1991. The company later merged with Walnut Creek CDROM in 2000, which was acquired by Telnet System Solutions shortly after the merger. BSDi was then sold to Wind River Systems in 2001 and renamed to iXsystems. In December 2003 Wind River discontinued BSD/OS and some of its technologies developed during BSDi's history continue development in BSD (Berkeley Software Distribution) derivatives like FreeBSD.
