Bug tracking
Updated: 12/31/2022 by Computer Hope
Bug tracking, also known as issue tracking, is a part of the software development process. Bug tracking utilizes a separate, dedicated piece of software to keep track of reported bugs and fully document their diagnosis and resolution.
When software is in development, it is tested before being released by a QA (Quality Assurance) department. If it is found to operate incorrectly, the behavior is reported to the issue tracking system. All information associated with that bug is then kept in a centralized location accessible to the project team. Bug tracking software can continue to track software issues after the software is released so that bugs may be eliminated in future updates.
