Caddy
Updated: 11/12/2023 by Computer Hope
A caddy is a container used to hold various items or objects. For example, the picture is of a CD-ROM (Compact Disc Read-Only Memory) caddy, a container used with early Apple computer CD-ROM drives that would hold and protect the disc. Discs would enter the computer only after being placed into a caddy, rather than inserted using a tray or disc slot. Today, the CD-ROM caddy is rarely used or found with computers.
Tip
A disc drive that doesn't use a caddy is called a caddyless drive.
