How to decrease time used to log onto Internet with modem

For older computers, decrease the time it takes to log on to the Internet by disabling network protocols not used to connect to the Internet.

  1. Double-click My Computer and double-click Dial-up Network icon.
  2. Right-click the Internet Dial-up Networking icon you want to log in faster and click the Properties option.
  3. Click the Server types tab and uncheck the following options.
  • Log on to network
  • NetBEUI
  • IPX/SPX Compatible
