Prevent Outlook from automatically connecting to the Internet

To prevent Microsoft Outlook from connecting to the Internet automatically, follow the steps below for your version of Outlook.
Microsoft Outlook 2000 users
- Select Tools from the drop-down menu.
- Click Options.
- Click the Mail Delivery tab.
- Uncheck the option to check for messages every x minutes.
Additionally, Microsoft Outlook 2000 users can also have Outlook prompt on dial-up connection through this window.
Microsoft Outlook 9x users
- Select Tools from the drop-down menu.
- Click Services.
- Highlight "Internet Mail" and click Properties.
- Click the Connection tab.
- At the bottom of the Connection tab, either specify work offline or change the scheduling to a higher number.
