How to find the type of computer floppy drive
All computers today are either shipped with no floppy disk drive or have a standard 3.5" floppy disk drive. If you're trying to determine the floppy drive installed, it is likely that the computer either contains a 3.5" or a 5.25" floppy disk drive.
Sometimes, the computer may have an Imation SuperDisk, LS-120 disk drive, or an Iomega Zip drive. Additional information about these drives is found printed on the front, top or bottom of the disk drives.
Product listing or specifications
If you are trying to list all the specific information about your computer, specifying Generic 3.5" (or 5.25") Floppy Disk Drive is always acceptable.
Drivers or installation
When trying to determine the floppy drive drivers to install with your computer operating system, any "Generic Floppy Disk Drive" or "Standard floppy disk controller" should be sufficient.
All new operating systems no longer support internal floppy drives.
Replacement or repair
If you are trying to determine the floppy disk drive because it needs replaced or repaired, we recommend the drive be replaced with another generic floppy disk drive.
