How to SSH from Microsoft Windows

Although Microsoft Windows does include an application to FTP and Telnet, it doesn't come pre-installed with an application to SSH (Secure SHell) to another computer. If you need to SSH to a remote computer, you need to download a third-party program to connect over SSH.
The picture shows PuTTY, a popular SSH program used in Windows and other environments.
Recommended SSH programs
- OpenSSH for Windows
- SecureCRT from Vandyke
- PuTTY
