If I burn copies of a CD, does it degrade the quality?

Unlike a cassette tape that stores its audio and visual information in analog format, CDs (compact disc) and DVDs (digital versatile disc) do so digitally. Consequently, data written to these media will not see a drop in quality during the process, as long as the bitrate or resolution isn't reduced along the way.
In other words, hundreds of copies of an audio CD or DVD movie could be made and be 100% identical to the original.
