What is the 1 by the jumper or how do I locate pin 1?

Each jumper and DIP switch has a small numerical 1 that may look like a simple line, that identifies pin one. When changing the jumper, your documentation will tell you to move the jumper from one spot to another. Identifying pin one lets you move the jumper block correctly.

As shown in the picture, this motherboard labels pin 1 with an arrow next to the one (bottom left corner). In our example, the motherboard also describes what jumping each pin does. JP6 with 1 and 2 pins jumped is NORMAL, with 2 and 3 jumped it is set to CONFIG, and OPEN (no pins covered) for RECOVERY.

If instructed to move the jumper block from pins 2 and 3 to 1 and 2, and pin 1 was on the left side of the jumper, move the jumper block from right to left.
