Can I upgrade the video memory on my video card?
Updated: 05/04/2019 by Computer Hope
On a video card, the memory is integrated into the circuit board. Unlike RAM (Random-Access Memory) for a computer, VRAM (Video Random-Access Memory) on a video card cannot be removed or upgraded.
What are my options?
To increase the amount of video memory on your computer, you must purchase a new video card with more memory. The motherboard and its expansion slots and how big of power supply the computer has determines what type of video card is available.
What about adding video memory to a laptop?
Because you cannot change or upgrade the video card in nearly all laptops, there are very few options for increasing or adding more video memory to them.
