How to open a new command prompt window using cmd

If you need to open another command prompt window from within an existing command prompt, type the following command and press Enter.

start cmd.exe

Note

Upon executing the command above, the first command prompt window remains open, allowing you to continue using it.

Tip

You can use the command above to open multiple command prompt windows.
