Many applications are available from Oracle, each one having different requirements for installation and a different process for installing.

- Oracle applications are usually installed in a data center environment, on a Linux or Windows server. They can also run in a cloud computing environment, hosted by Oracle or another company.
- A database is often necessary for storage of data used by Oracle applications. It is recommended to use an Oracle database with an Oracle application, for the best compatibility and performance.
- For the best performance, servers running Oracle applications need a large amount of memory (RAM), at least 32 GB.
- Oracle applications employ excellent security access measures and is often integrated into existing account and security systems used by a business, like Active Directory.
- Patches for Oracle applications are released frequently to fix bugs and add additional features. Be prepared to install one or more patches every month or two.
