How to get 3ds Max for free as a student or educator

Autodesk 3ds Max is available to students and educators free of charge for the first three years. To get your educational license for the software, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to the Autodesk Education page.
  2. Scroll down and locate the 3ds Max software and click the Get Started button.
  3. If you don't have an account, select your Educational Role (if you select Student, enter your birth date) and click Next.

    If you already have an account, click the SIGN IN link.
  4. Enter your name, e-mail address, and a password, check the box to agree to Terms of Use, and click Create Acount.
  5. After creating an account, you must select the 3ds Max software again on the Autodesk Education page and enter some additional details.
  6. Choose your version, operating system, and language from the three drop-down menus.
  7. Select Install Now to begin the installation process.

The education license is good for three years, meaning users can use the software at no cost for the duration. The education license allows a user to install 3ds Max on two devices.
