Clean room
A clean room or cleanroom is a room designed to have minimal levels of static electricity, dirt, dust particles, or airborne chemicals. It provides a sterile environment for the research and development of sensitive electronic devices like computer processors. The environment must be controlled to ensure the product is not damaged or contaminated. The picture shows people in a clean room, one of them examining a silicon wafer.
When a person enters a clean room, they wear a special kind of clothing or suit that is free of static electricity, and thoroughly clean. Some clean room entryways include a small chamber that utilizes air or chemicals to cleanse the person before they enter the room. The clean room itself may also have special air filtration systems and duct work to ensure it remains clean and controlled.
