CMOS virus

A CMOS virus is a computer virus capable of infecting and modifying the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor). They are particularly problematic because even when a computer hard drive or SSD (Solid-State Drive) is erased, the infection may persist, spreading to the operating system once it's reinstalled.
A good example of a CMOS virus is AntiCMOS, which could erase or reset CMOS settings.
