Code signing
Updated: 06/22/2024 by Computer Hope
Alternatively called authenticode, code signing is software that includes a digital signature, which can protect the software from tampering or binary corruption. Before a program or driver is distributed, it is encrypted with a digital signature. The signature is cryptographically verified before the program is installed on the computer. Once verified, the program or driver is installed to the computer. However, if this process fails the user is prompted with a failure error.
