Compose

Compose is a verb that describes writing, creating, or putting something together. For example, when you are writing an e-mail, it can also be said that you are composing an e-mail. If you are writing a document, you are composing a document. Music can be composed and used to create an audio file.

Software that composes a document on a computer are e-mail clients, like Microsoft Outlook or Thunderbird, and word processors, like Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or OpenOffice Writer. For composing audio, Audacity is popular.
