Copy protection is hardware or software that helps prevent users from illegally making copies of a program without having to pay for it. Usually, copy protection is done using a product key or other unique key that allows a program to be installed and run on only one computer a time. Because these numbers can be easy to share many companies are also adding extra copy protection by requiring authorization over the Internet.
