How to use the Ctrl+1 keyboard shortcut
To use this keyboard shortcut, press and hold either Ctrl key, and while continuing to hold, press 1.
For this shortcut, you must use 1 above the top row keys, not on the numeric keypad.
Ctrl+1 in Microsoft Excel
In Microsoft Excel and all other spreadsheet programs, pressing Ctrl+1 opens the Format Cells window.
Ctrl+1 in an Internet browser
With all major Internet browsers (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox), pressing Ctrl+1 switches to the first tab.
Ctrl+1 in Microsoft Word
In Microsoft Word, pressing Ctrl+1 changes a line, paragraph, or all highlighted text to have single spacing.
You may also press Ctrl+2 to set the line spacing to double, or Ctrl+5 to set it to 1.5 spaces per line.
