How to use the Ctrl+M keyboard shortcut
To use this keyboard shortcut, press and hold either Ctrl key, and while continuing to hold, press M.
Ctrl+M in an Internet browser
In Firefox, Ctrl+M mutes the audio for the currently-selected tab.
Ctrl+M in Microsoft PowerPoint
In Microsoft PowerPoint, Ctrl+M inserts a blank slide after the currently-selected one.
Ctrl+M in Outlook
In Microsoft Outlook, pressing Ctrl+M sends and receives all e-mail.
Ctrl+M in Word and other word processors
In Microsoft Word and other word processor programs, pressing Ctrl+M indents the paragraph. If you press this keyboard shortcut more than once, it continues to indent further. For example, you could hold down Ctrl and press M three times to indent the paragraph by three units.
Pressing Ctrl+Shift+M decreases the indent by one unit instead of increasing it.
Ctrl+M in Windows Media Player
In Windows Media Player, pressing Ctrl+M toggles the file menu shown at the top of the screen.
Ctrl+M in Photoshop
In Photoshop, pressing Ctrl+M opens Curves.
If curves when pressing this key make sure you're in a layer that supports curves. For example, while in a text layer this shortcut does not work.
Ctrl+M in Windows calculator
When used in the Microsoft Windows calculator, pressing Ctrl+M stores the current calculator value in memory. This keyboard shortcut is the same as pressing the MS (memory store) button.
