Cult of the Dead Cow

Cult of the Dead Cow, or cDc, is a group of hackers and a do-it-yourself media organization founded in Lubbock, Texas in 1984. Their stated goal is "Global domination through media saturation," facilitated via weblog and media interviews. The cDc produces an underground ezine called "CULT OF THE DEAD COW" that was published in the 1980s. It has created many hacking tools aimed at computer security, including Back Orifice, NBName, SMBRelay, Torpark (also called XeroBank Browser) and Whisker.
Several subgroups of hackers were created by cDc members, including the Ninja Strike Force in 1996 and Hacktivismo in 1999. cDc is affiliated with other groups, including L0pht, ACiD Productions, The Syndicate of London, and Soulz at Zero.
