DDoS

Short for Distributed Denial of Service, DDoS is a DoS attack that uses several computers to attack one victim. Often, a DDoS attack is started by hacking dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of other computers and uploading instructions on when and how to attack. A DDoS is used against a big site capable of handling large amounts of traffic.

Preventing a DDoS attack

Some Internet users (e.g., influencers and gamers) may have trolls that DDoS their IP address to cause them grief. As an end user, protecting your home network from these attacks can be difficult. Sometimes, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) can protect you by changing your IP address or going after the attacker. However, if you're frequently attacked, using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) may be a better idea.

How can I do a DDoS attack?
