Desiccant
Updated: 11/16/2019 by Computer Hope
A desiccant is a substance (usually made from silica gel) used to keep any items around it dry. Desiccants are used when shipping electronic goods as they are easily damaged by moisture.
Desiccants can also be used to pull moisture from an electronic device, such as a cell phone, which was dropped in water. However, it should be noted that using desiccants in this manner is not guaranteed to work.
