DLNA

The Digital Living Network Alliance, or DLNA, is a collaborative trade organization that was founded by Sony in June 2003. The organization defines data sharing guidelines between multimedia devices. Devices that support DLNA use Universal Plug and Play, or UPnP, for discovery of other devices with which to share media.
Using a Digital Media Server facilitates ease of sharing on devices in the home as audio and video files, like movies and pictures, are stored then accessed by DLNA devices. Both wired and wireless devices can access media, as long as they support DLNA.
