Double-click
Double-click may refer to any of the following:
1. Double-click describes quickly pressing a mouse button twice while keeping it still. In most cases, a double-click with the left mouse button opens or executes a file, folder, or program.
For example, programs and files in Microsoft Windows are opened by double-clicking the icon. To open your Internet browser, you would double-click the browser icon shortcut.
If you are working with text, double-clicking a word selects that word. Triple-clicking selects the sentence.
Practice double-clicking
Below is a text field to practice double-clicking your mouse. To double-click, press your left mouse button twice quickly. If you're using a laptop with a touchpad, you can also double-tap the touchpad.
Because there is no clicking on a smartphone, there is no double-clicking. However, some phones and programs may support double or triple tapping.
Why does double-click move text or icons?
If, while double-clicking, the button is held down for too long and moved, the mouse may move text, icons, or other objects. Often this happens because the user is not double-clicking fast enough. If this happens a lot, we suggest slowing down the double-clicking speed.
How to double-click with a keyboard
To double-click with the keyboard, highlight the object you want to double-click, then press Enter on the keyboard.
2. DoubleClick is an Internet advertising company. On April 13, 2007, Google announced it would purchase DoubleClick for $3.1 billion in cash. Today, this service is part of Google Ad Manager.
