EPYC (pronounced epic) is a line of server CPUs designed by AMD and released in June 2017. EPYC CPUs operate on the Zen microarchitecture and use the SP3 socket type.
The EPYC line is a direct competitor to Xeon processors by Intel, designed primarily for data center operation.
