Updated: 04/26/2017 by Computer Hope
A file server is a computer that stores and manages files for other computers on a network. More specifically, they allow multiple users to access and share files, like documents, images, and videos, from a central location using the client-server structure.
File servers are used in various settings, from small businesses to large corporations, and provide local and remote access. Some common features of file servers include file sharing, backup and recovery, and security and access control.
