Short for floating-point operations per second, FLOPS is a measurement of computer performance. It is used in computations that involve floating-point calculations.
There are many prefixes associated with FLOPS. For example, 20 Mflops equals 20 million FLOPS. The term teraflop (or tflop) describes a trillion (1012) floating-point operations per second. A petaflop is one quadrillion (1015) FLOPS.
