Galaxy Z Flip
Updated: 12/05/2021 by Computer Hope
Released in February 2020, the Galaxy Z Flip is a series of foldable Android smartphones created by Samsung. Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold series, which has a horizontally folding display, the Z Flip has a vertical fold. It behaves like a clamshell flip phone, providing a compact form factor that can be opened to reveal the full display. It also features a flexible glass display instead of a plastic display as seen on the Motorolla Razr and original Galaxy Fold.
The Galaxy Z Flip is sold at a similar price range, around $1400, as the most premium version of the Galaxy S phone.
Versions of the Galaxy Z Flip
- Galaxy Z Flip - Released in February 2020, the original Galaxy Z Flip solved many of the problems encountered by the first Galaxy Fold, proving that Samsung could make a capable folding device. It had a 6.7-inch AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) display (unfolded) and a 1.1-inch notification display (folded). It also featured 4G LTE (Long-Term Evolution) connectivity and 8 GB RAM.
- Galaxy Z Flip 5G - Released in August 2020, the Z Flip 5G was a minor update to the original phone, adding 5G connectivity and an updated Snapdragon 865 CPU (central processing unit). Exclusive colors were also available for this version.
- Galaxy Z Flip3 - The Z Flip3 was released alongside the Z Fold3 in August 2021. Updates include a slightly higher screen-to-body ratio due to its smaller body, and a better rear camera system.
