Geekspeak
Geekspeak may refer to any of the following:
1. Geekspeak is any talking in words that are considered technical jargon, especially words or acronyms related to computers, smartphones, Internet, or other technological devices or services. The term is thought to have become popular due to its use by the press in 1998 while covering a Microsoft antitrust case.
When shopping at a computer store, customers sometimes find sales people or the repair techs using prime examples of techspeak. This jargon may be difficult for customers to understand, and sometimes is off-putting. It can also deter them from purchasing goods and services.
Examples of geekspeak include web, bugs, cookies, glitch, mainframe, and hardwired.
Geekspeak may also be called digispeak, geekonics, techspeak, textspeak, tech talk, IMglish, Internet speak, and Webspeak.
Geekspeak may also refer to shorthand used to abbreviations and acronyms used in chat.
2. GeekSpeak is a radio program that began in 1998 and is broadcast on KUSP out of Santa Cruz, California. It is an hour-long program that focuses on the latest trends in technology and offers advice and tips on technical topics.
