Updated: 05/04/2019 by Computer Hope
Released in 2014, Google Cardboard is a low-end, smartphone-based VR (virtual reality) headset offered by Google. It is an affordable cardboard alternative to other VR headsets, which can be very expensive.
To use Google Cardboard, you need a VR compatible smartphone to place inside it. Google's reason for releasing this headset is to encourage users to experience VR so that developers are inclined to create more advanced VR applications.
Google Cardboard can be purchased online for $15.
