Google Home

Google Home may refer to any of the following:

1. Google Home is a smartphone app that acts as a dashboard for all Google devices connected to your account. This app includes the Google Nest line of smart home speakers and security products, Chromecast video devices, and compatible third-party equipment.

Using the app, you can remotely control your devices and create routines that give instructions to multiple devices at once. For example, you can create a routine called "Good morning" that turns on a smart LED (light-emitting diode) light and reads you the morning news on your Google Nest speaker. This routine can be activated on the Google Home app or using the wake phrase "good morning" while your Google Nest speaker is listening.

2. Google Home was a line of voice-activated smart speakers released by Google in 2017. The speakers use Google Assistant to accomplish tasks, such as answering questions, making calls, playing music, scheduling events, or setting timers. The speaker activates when the phrases "Ok Google" or "Hey Google" are spoken by a user. In addition to the standard Google Home, the smaller Google Home Mini and the larger Google Home Max were available variants.

In 2019, Google rebranded the Google Home speakers to be part of Google Nest. This brand contains several smart home products, including smart thermostats, video doorbells, and Wi-Fi routers.
