Hover
Hover may refer to any of the following:
1. Alternatively called a mouseover or mouse hover, hover describes moving a mouse pointer over a clickable object, but not actually clicking the left or right mouse button.
For example, when you hover your mouse over any of the links on this page, they should change color, indicating they can be clicked. You'll also notice that this action shows additional information about the link.
The animated picture shows how the cursor changes as you hover over different elements. By default, the mouse pointer is an arrow. When you hover over text you get the I-beam cursor, whereas the pointer changes to a hand cursor when the mouse is over a hyperlink.
For smartphones and tablets that use a finger for input, it's not possible to hover over an object without third-party software.
2. Computer software game included on the original release of Microsoft Windows 95. Hover is a game that lets you control a hovercraft and must locate flags in a 3D world and was one of the first games to help demonstrate MMX (MultiMedia eXtension) technology.
Hover! was only found on the CD (compact disc) version of Windows 95 and was not part of the floppy diskette version.
