IAD

An IAD, also known as an integrated access device, is a networking device that connects users to a WAN (wide area network), or the entire Internet. It's on the consumer's premises and combines multiple channels for the flow of information, including digital voice and data communications. It also connects them to an Internet service provider's POP (point of presence). The IAD is usually installed and maintained by an ISP (Internet service provider), allowing the ISP to control connections at the hardware level on a per-customer basis.
