Impedance may refer to any of the following:
1. With power, impedance or electrical impedance is the opposition to current flow in an AC (alternating current) circuit. Impedance (represented by the letter Z) is the combination of resistance, inductance, and capacitance of a circuit and its value is measured in ohms.
2. With speakers, impedance is the opposition a speaker produces to the alternating current coming from the amplifier. A speaker requires more power the lower its impedance. Many speakers have an impedance between four and eight ohms.
