A way to monetize apps on mobile devices that are otherwise free, in-app purchases are small purchases found in apps that improve the user experience. For some apps, this means that certain features are locked behind a paywall, limiting the options for free users. For games, this concept is called a microtransaction.

If a mobile app on iOS or Android devices contains in-app purchases, it notifies you on the App Store or Google Play Store page before you download it. When such a purchase is made, you must confirm it with your app store and enter your Google or iCloud password. This method secures your payment information and does not reveal it to the app's owner.
