I'm trying to set up F@H on my HP Compaq 6715b (in specs)(Vista business X64)

I've got the program loaded, username, team # but:

(1) I don't see how to find the work packet.
"Once installed the client will download a work packet"

(2) When I right click the F@H system tray icon, then select 'Display', I see an error "veiwer.exe has stopped working" (attatchment 1).

Then when I try the solution = 'add DEP exception for this program', I get an error message = "this program must run with DEP enabled" (attatchment 2).

In all honesty, I have no idea how F@H works, and I'm not real computer knowledgable. I just want to help the F@H cause if I can get this up-and-running. That will likley include further help from you all, but I don't forsee a problem there, I've received enough help on here through the years to eliminate most of my ignorance so far.  ;)

Never mind. I found some answers on the F@H forum. I installed v7.1.24 beta and have both CPU's running 100%. I've still got some learning to do on this, but I'm going to sleep for now. Good night (morning  ;D) everybody.

Where do I find my Folding@Home Extremeoverclocking user number on  this site?
I'm trying to figure out how to create a personal badge in my signature based on these instructions:

Also I need to get a member forum icon added.

Never mind. I found the user #xxxxxx in my URL and have my signature fixed.
But I still need to get the member forum icon. Is this something I can do myself?

Have you completed a work unit ? ?
I believe that's when the widget begins to work...

Firstly welcome to the team. And, now that you have completed a WU, you can notify Nathan (CH Administration) and he will give you your icon. overthehill

I seem to have smp v7.1.24 running fine @ 100% on 2 cores, and within max cpu heat range (barely), but I've got 2 quick questions for those using smp v7.1.24 (or similar):
1- What is the difference in the 'preferrences' setting 'render mode', (options = space filling, ball and stick, stick, cartoon space filling, and cartoon ball and stick)?
2- I may have made an error choosing installation options for my software ... In my 'Client Control/System Info' it list 'build/platform' = "win32 Vista" and 'bits' = "32". I'm running this software on a machine with Vista X64 operating system, so my question is: Is there an X64 version of F@H that my system would perform better with?
Thanks,
Mike

Also; The F@H cause is so cool for me. I lost my mother, father, 2 aunts, 2 uncles and 3 grandparents to Cancer. And both my sister and I are living with terminal illnesses that this research is targeting. So, from now on, I don't have to say, "I hope they find a cure", but rather "we're working to find a cure".  ;)
And my thanks to all the other F@H participants!!!  :)

Mike,

Sorry to hear about all your losses to cancer and I've got you added to the F@H team. You should now have an icon.

Thanks Nathan. I'm certainly happy to be a member of the Computer Hope F@H team.  :)
