Like many others, Google search has not been working properly for me  for several days. I have seen comments on various 'Website down' sites.

Favourites is working ok and can also access from URL bar but not from normal search site.

Does anyone know exactly what the problem is and what Google is doing about it?!

Works fine here...make sure you are not being re-directed.
You may be infected.

I'm using Windows 7 + IE11. I'm not the only one eg see Is it down right now iidrn.com. People have been complaining for days! No-one seems to know what the problem is and,  more importantly, what Google is doing to fix it.

I have no issues with google...

Where are you getting info that it is down from ? ?

Ok modern computer then.... I saw this was in the Windows NT/2000 section and so I had to make sure we werent dealing with out of date browser and plugins etc with operating systems like NT4 SP6 or Windows 2000 Professional SP4 etc.

Where are people complaining when you stated...

No problems with Google for me in a long time. Perhaps its an ISP issue with their DNS server etc. One way to rule out a bad DNS would be to use opendns IP for DNS with a static entry. I had problems years ago when Adelphia switched over to Comcast and their DNS servers were acting flakey. I even pointed out the hop that was bad in the traceroute with very long latency and unfortunately it was a pointless phone call to comcast at the time as for they wouldnt connect me to anyone who could communicate without a flow chart in front of them of if this then that answers over the phone. I requested to talk to someone with a real background in their infrastructure vs just a telephone service rep. All they could do was claim that they would pass the information to the necessary person in charge of their DNS's. For 5 days I tracked on a spare computer their problem that they didnt fix. No problem like this should have ever taken 5 days. Had I been connected to or information passed on to the correct person in charge they would have fixed that immediately. Obviously for it to take 5 days.... someone higher up was not doing their job very well as for this affected many people other than just myself.  ::)

I'd still like to see a Source...

My source is firstly me - it isn't possible to  search on Google - only by using the URL bar at the top of the computer. Favourites though is also ok. Loads of other complaints - iidrn.com (='is it down right now')

Jeffrey

Perhaps should add that I am in the UK

According to your source it isn't down...and hasn't been for weeks and weeks.

Most recent post on iidrn has cured my problem (have changed my google search settings to 'Never') see attached.

I assume that the posts at the bottom of iidrn are indeed current - if they are, then there are plenty of folks out there who are having problems!

Here is some more information about service outages.
AT&T and Google and others have issues in some areas. An example is when a un underground fiber cable is cut by a excavation project.

A few days ago, suing the World Series, service was interrupted in Kansas City.
Google Fiber Goes Down During World Series, Credits KC 2 Days of Service
QuoteGoogle Fiber went down in Kansas City during one of the most important times in the local market: Game 1 of the World Series between the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Yesterday, I got an apology from them via email, and even though I wasn't home during the outage, they're making up for it by proactively giving the entire market 2 days of service off of their next bill. The rest of the industry could really learn from their customer service.
At least one person was happy!  :)

EDIT:Another source says it was not fault of Google fiber.

Kansas City is quite far from the U.K....

If you read above the issue was his settings...not google being down.
