My wife has a Apple ipad but when she wants to print from it she clicks on print she gets a message saying no printers found would both our printers being operated using a USB cable cause that problem.Would that problem exist if either printer was operated wirelessly.

As I know, Apple iPad, as well as Android tablets, can be connected to a printer only wirelessly. I have a printer with on-board WiFi and it works well with both laptop and tablet.

Here is the printer I have

I have Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and print using the Lexmark Mobile Print app. It is also available for Apple users.

Consider getting a new printer with WiFi if your wife uses tablet often. It really saves much time.

My printer is now operated wirelessly again and I thought if my wife clicked on find printer on her ipad she would find mine. When tried she tried it found my printer  but then asks for the model name I thought the printer number which is DCP-J315W is the model but not sure now.

I believe to print from an Ipad, the printer must support "AirPrint"  (See attached list)

Otherwise, you may have to download an app.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

When I checked the list of printers on that the printer my wife which is  Deskjet 2540 is on that list so that should work with ipad correct

Yes, if both the printer and the Ipad are connected to the same wireless network, it should print.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
