Greeting all. I am trying to revitalize an old Acer Aspire One running XP Pro. Computer is doing fine except for one major issue. My wireless Network Connection is showing that it is connected, speed is 54.0 Mbps and signal strength is excellent. I have two browsers. Firefox and IE8. Trying to access a page with Firefox returns the message "Server not found". IE8 displays the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

My question to you all is obviously, WHAT IS GOING ON? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? HOW DO I FIX THIS?

I've been given many "suggestions" and tried them all. Re-install network adapter. Forget wifi network and re-connect. Toggle Airplane mode. Check for a firewall. Make sure proxy is not turned on. Reset winsock. And a suggestion that the old browsers are compatible with the net and won't work. ???

Someone out there must know the real answer. GOSH, I hope. I look forward to seeing the replies. Make me a happy man.  :'(

Thanks for checking out my post.

Probably, the problem is in the system itself. Windows XP OS is not supported anymore. Moreover, if you install it and plus get latest software, the system will not simply "understand" it. They are not compatible. Use at least Windows 7 or 8.

Hi

Have you checked the system date and time are correct ?

Although if they were incorrect you would get a different error still worth checking.
