It was the "Hard Disk Sentinel Professional Setup" program, after installation, of course. I have not paid for it. It seems the file downloaded is identical to the "Hard Disk Sentinel Trial" download; odd that they've provided separate downloads to the same file. I don't know where you might be seeing this browse button except perhaps as part of the installer for it?

More generally for the External HDD though- what you are describing does sound like the drive failed. Can you hear the drive spin up when it is powered on? Does it make any repeating noises or clicks?

You may see if the External drive is acknowledged in Disk Management when connected as well (diskmgmt.msc, the tool should show up if you put that into the start menu search).

Partly. I need to get rid of the gmail on the account and the phone # and start fresh with a new account.
I also wondering what I wlll loose on my desk top when I do this.

A while back, a friend was on my computer and somehow got his email and phone number  on my google account.
Now it appears this info shows up and he is the owner of the google account on my computer.
Everything I sync and do with devices comes up with his email and phone number.

How do I get this off my computer so I can get the account under my name? What will I loose and how do I get it back/

My version does not look like what you show. I clicked on the Browse button and it brings up a list of my folders and anything connected to a usb port. It does not show my corupted hd;which ofcourse connected to a usb port.

IF YOU DON'T mind me asking, were you using a trial version or paid version? I will check again tomorrow and see if i could screenshot it and show it here.BTW, I think there was a Browse button, If so, I would check that out also.

That sounds like the folder option when you are installing the program?

There is no folder selection when you run the program itself. I get this when I open the program for example:

OK, i APOLOGIZE...i WENT BACK TO THE FIRST LINK YOU GAVE ME TO CHECK THE DOWNLOAD VERSION, AND IT SEEMS YOU WERE CORRECT THAT THE UNLIMITED VERSION WAS THE PRO. i EXTRACTED IT AND RAN IT AND THE ONLY THING IT ASKS THE USER WHAT FOLDER WOULD I be choosing and it shows my C drive. It does not show the hd i have connected to via a usb port. Does this mean its not fixable? aRE THERE ANY alternatives?

Hi everyone

I'm having my first real sound issue, and am not very technical to be able to sort it out.  I'm just starting to work with music on my PC, and have been trying out a couple of the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) packages for this. I've been trying a DAW called Cakewalk for a week or so, and a couple of days ago downloaded another, Cubase Pro 13 to try/learn.

At first, it seemed to work fine (even though I could do almost nothing on it yet), and I was trying to follow tutorials to learn it, but found that whenever I had Cubase open, I couldn't get any sound out of Youtube. ChatGPT "helpfully" advised me to go into my PC sound settings and prevent applications from taking exclusive control of my sound. That's when the problem started - I couldn't get any sound at all out of Cubase (or Cakewalk) after that, though other PC sound was fine and the indicators within these programs showed that there was a signal being generated. Switching the PC sound settings back to where they were didn't work, even after several restarts.

Someone advised me to download and install ASIO4ALL drivers and try that. That helped a little. I switched the DAW settings to this new driver, and now I can get sound out of the DAWs (though with Cubase, I often need to fiddle around a lot in audio settings to get even that), but I still can't record anything.  It look like it's recording and it does show a signal, but when I stop the recording, there's nothing there.

And if I switch back to the General Low Latency drivers (the default driver setting in Cubase), there is again no sound at all.

I've been playing around in the audio settings of the DAWs, but nothing seems to help and it's really frustrating me.

Does this make any sense to anyone? Does the story above give any clue as to what the issue might be.
