ISI
ISI may refer to any of the following:
1. Short for Information Sciences Institute, ISI is a research organization located in the University of Southern California. It is renowned for its contributions to various fields in computer science, IT (information technology), and computational research.
Founded in 1972, the ISI was involved in many research projects. Two of the most notable are ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), which was the precursor to today's modern Internet, and the DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) research initiative. They also worked on machine translation, voice recognition, and data analysis.
Currently, the Information Sciences Institute conducts research in natural-language processing, AI (artificial intelligence), cybersecurity, computer networking, distributed systems, data science, and others.
2. Short for Instruction Storage Interrupt, ISI is the equivalent of a segmentation fault with PowerPC architecture. See our interrupt and event definitions for more information.
