Killer app

A killer app is a software application or hardware device that is either revolutionary, groundbreaking, a large step in innovation, or something that most users find themselves wanting. A great example of a recent killer app is the smartphone. One of the earliest examples of a killer app is VisiCalc, one of the earliest spreadsheet programs.
