Large-scale integration

LSI (Large-Scale Integration) is a chip generation introduced in 1971 with between 500 and 20,000 transistors and 100 and 9,999 logic gates. LSI replaced MSI (medium-scale integration) and was replaced by the next generation of chips, VLSI (Very-Large-Scale Integration).
